An old letter to some friends…
My friend Brian (http://www.thisisbk.com) posted the letter below. I wrote it a little over two months ago.
I sit awake now, at 5:41 am… deep in the mixing process (which for me is a LOT of listening and researching anything music related online while Billy Moon does his thing). I re-read this and think about where I was at 2 months ago and where I am at now. It’s a very similar state.
Though as each day that passes I settle in more and more to my role. Kinda like sand getting passed through a sifter… i’m coming together below in a more concise, organized pile.
Read if you’d like. oao.

Gentlemen,[boring shit redacted]
It’s so funny, every day I wake up and go to sleep in this strange
euphoric state. I feel as if I’m walking on a razors edge between a
caffeine high and some sort of delirium. I still feel as though many
of the songs aren’t my own. I feel like they are my body and I’m a
surgeon looking down on them in a hospital bed, knowing exactly what
needs to be done to bring them back to functionality. Perhaps it’s
more of a mad scientist analogy. I don’t know.
We all can hear how the music is progressing. It’s a good time to
remember that [the songs] have as far to go as they have come. The minute details to make the record great are still to be pulled from inside of them.It is good to know this though. All of the songs we heard tonight
may be in the worst form they will ever be in.
They can only get better.
They can only get better.
Sincerely,
Justin
