Where's Wando?

Ok… last post of the night… ‘cause it’s 4:11 am and i’m exhausted!  I was just listening to a little opera…and thinking how thankful I am that I went through all of that training.

Not just for the technical ability that it gave me (considering now that I sing “not opera” i have to untrain myself of some of those things) but for the way it has made me so aware to a good melody.

I still to this day, after listening to some of the arias HUNDREDS of times, do not know what each word means.  I know the basic idea of what’s going on… but i do NOT know all of the lyrics.  Living in a song this way lets you be affected … how do i put this… in a way… that’s pure… that’s only from the actual MUSIC.  I think that sometimes words can restrict… take away from the emotion that can be conveyed by the music alone… by making you be inside the story that song is telling.

This is how I write my music… away from words until the very last moment.

But… I am trying to do my best to speak from my heart with the words I’m saying.  I’m trying to write what I know and be honest… because I believe that this is the only way to “get to people.”  I’m trying to write BETTER lyrics.

I’ll keep you updated on whether or not THAT happens.
